Application
A diffuser disc (also known as a fine‑bubble disc diffuser) is widely used in ozone‑based water and wastewater treatment systems to achieve efficient gas‑liquid mass transfer. When ozone gas is fed through the diffuser disc, it is dispersed into thousands of tiny bubbles that rise slowly through the water column, significantly increasing the contact surface area and residence time between ozone and the target contaminants.
Common application scenarios include the pre‑ozonation and main ozonation steps in drinking water treatment plants for disinfection and removal of taste, odor, and organic matter; the advanced oxidation treatment of industrial wastewater containing refractory pollutants or micropollutants; and the decolorization and odor control in textile dyeing, papermaking, and municipal wastewater treatment. Diffuser discs are also employed in ozone‑based aquaculture systems to maintain water quality and in flue gas treatment where ozone is used for simultaneous desulfurization and denitrification. Their uniform bubble distribution, high ozone transfer efficiency, and low energy consumption make them a preferred choice over other gas injection methods in many ozone contactors or reaction tanks.
